Mission pour l’enseignement du français à Hanoï: Franco-Vietnamese collaboration strengthened at PFIEV

From April 2 to 10, 2024, a FLE (French as a Foreign Language) teaching mission took place at the Hanoi Civil Engineering School (EGCH) and the Hanoi Polytechnic Institute (IPH). Carried out by Fanny Talagrand (teacher at Lycée Louis-le-Grand) in cooperation with the consortium of French partner institutions supporting the PFIEV, this mission aimed to support and observe language teaching within the PFIEV.

The main interlocutors, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Truc Quynh, Professor in charge of the French section PFIEV of the EGCH, and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, Professor in charge of the French section, Department of Foreign Languages at the IPH, ensured the coordination of the work within the teaching teams, and thus a particularly fruitful collaboration. In-depth work was carried out with the teachers of the French and English sections of the two institutions. The stay included consultation and course observation sessions, for both FLE and English, aimed at assessing developments since a previous mission to the Polytechnic Institute of Danang in 2023. Enriching pedagogical exchanges took place, and suggestions were made, particularly on oral interaction and teaching materials.

The PFIEV students, highly motivated and serious, demonstrated very good oral skills, while the teachers demonstrated exemplary dynamism and pedagogical rigor.

This mission strengthened the quality of language teaching within the PFIEV in the program’s establishments in Hanoi, with prospects for continuous improvement thanks to close cooperation between the French and Vietnamese teams.
