Closer cooperation, a mobilized alumni community and new prospects for engineering excellence
The France-Vietnam Year of Innovation, launched in 2025 and extended to October 2026, highlights scientific, technological and academic initiatives undertaken jointly by the two countries. The Programme de Formation d’Ingénieurs d’Excellence au Vietnam (PFIEV), accredited by the Commission des titres d’ingénieur (CTI) and with the EUR-ACE (European Accredited Engineer) label, occupies a leading position in Vietnam thanks to its network of students, alumni, teachers, partner companies and institutions.
Against this backdrop, several major events illustrated the vitality of the PFIEV in 2025.
PFIEV Alumni Cocktail – Consulat général de France à Ho Chi Minh-Ville
November 25, 2025
A cocktail party was held at the French residence of the Consulate General of France in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMV), bringing together over a hundred alumni, teachers, researchers and industrialists. For the first time, several generations of alumni from the eight PFIEV majors were brought together, offering a rich, intergenerational forum for exchange.

The meeting took place in the presence of:
– the Consul General of France, Étienne Ranaivoson;
– of PGS.TS. Huỳnh Kỳ Phương Hàvice-rector of HCMUT (Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology).
The speech in French by Lê Thanh Tài, spokesperson for the PFIEV students, drew particular attention.
PFIEV at the heart of the France-Vietnam Year of Innovation
PFIEV students and teachers took part in several national events:
President Emmanuel Macron visits Hanoi
Delegations from HUST (Hanoi University of Science and Technology) and HUCE (Hanoi University of Civil Engineering) were invited to take part in the events organized during this official visit, reinforcing the PFIEV’s visibility as a strong marker of Franco-Vietnamese cooperation.
Lectures by Nobel Prize winner Serge Haroche
Two major conferences were offered to PFIEV promotions:
– at the NIC (National Innovation Center) in Hòa Lạc;
– at HCMUT, in front of over 800 students.
These events provided an exceptional opportunity to highlight the PFIEV to the Vietnamese scientific community.
Academic missions of the French consortium
These academic exchanges contribute directly to the modernization of PFIEV options and to scientific harmonization between Vietnamese and French institutions.
An innovation-driven engineering community
Today, PFIEV graduates hold positions of responsibility in key sectors of the Vietnamese economy:
– construction and infrastructure;
– energy and energy transition;
– digital technologies;
– rail transport, aeronautics and mobility;
– advanced materials and polymers;
– telecommunications and industrial IT.
Enhanced industrial cooperation
2025 saw several major breakthroughs:
– HUCE – Pontech strategic partnership around end-of-study projects (PFE);
– collaborations in the rail and infrastructure sectors via French institutions;
– strong mobilization of PFIEV alumni, now managers or executives in leading Vietnamese companies (construction, energy, telecoms, digital).
Academic mobility and thesis pursuit
Every year, many PFIEV students go on to study for a master’s or doctorate in France or Europe, thanks to:
– Eiffel scholarships;
– doctoral scholarships from the French Embassy;
– Erasmus+ funding (KA171);
– PFE supervised in France.
2026 outlook
As an extension of the France-Vietnam Year of Innovation, the PFIEV will be working on several strategic areas:
– Increase the PFIEV’s visibility among institutions and companies.
– Support the scientific modernization of options and programs.
– Supporting bilateral student and teacher mobility.
– Consolidate industrial partnerships in key sectors (energy, digital, mobility, semiconductors, AI).
– Develop the PFIEV alumni network as a major lever for cooperation, mentoring and professional integration.
