As part of the PFIEV program (Programme de Formation d’Ingénieurs d’Excellence au Vietnam), three lecturers fromHanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE) – Dr Tống Ngọc Tú (PFIEV director), Dr Đoàn Tùng and Dr Nguyễn Bích Vân – stayed at École des Ponts throughout October 2025.
The mission, led by Federico Antoniazzi (director of the Mastère Spécialisé® STFU – Systèmes de transports ferroviaires et urbains) and Thibaut Skrzypek (referent for the PFIEV at ENPC), was aimed at strengthening academic cooperation in rail transport, discovering French teaching practices, and exploring opportunities for collaboration in research and training.
The Vietnamese colleagues attended a number of courses on the STFU master’s program and other programs, including :
- railway operation simulation,
- infrastructure design and maintenance,
- structuring rail projects,
- transport infrastructure financing (Clive Gallery),
- and the links between engineering, urban planning and mobility in the Transport & Mobility (TM) and TRADD (transport and sustainable development) masters programs (Emeric Fortin).
They also took part in the UIC’s international event on high-speed rail education on October 14, alongside several European universities.
During their stay, they met with several researchers and laboratories:
- Tien Hoang and Anh-Minh Tang(Navier laboratory) on railway geotechnics,
- Laurent Bouillaut (GRETTIA – Université Gustave Eiffel) on network maintenance and operation,
- Renaud-Pierre Martin, Franziska Schmidt and Le Hung Tran (EMGCU – Université Gustave Eiffel) on rolling stock, track-train interaction and complex geotechnical zones.
A scientific exchange with Nacima Baron(LVMT – Laboratoire Ville Mobilité Transport) compared European and Vietnamese approaches to railway stations and the urban integration of networks. A professional visit to Société des grands projets provided an opportunity to talk with Alexis de Pommerol about structuring projects in the Paris region, and a meeting with Compagnie des Signaux (CdS) focused on railway signalling systems.
This immersion provided HUCE with food for thought on the development of its training offer in urban and rail transport, while strengthening the strategic partnership with École des Ponts.
