They also stressed the importance of alumni networks in maintaining long-term links between establishments, laboratories, teachers-researchers and former students.

Dr. Le Thi Hong Hieu now works at the Ho Chi Minh City Polytechnic Institute, part of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. In particular, she is involved in the Programme de Formation d’Ingénieurs d’Excellence au Vietnam, whose activities she oversees at the Ho Chi Minh City site. Her career illustrates the continuity between engineering training, academic cooperation and commitment to the development of scientific training in Vietnam.

Ms Le Thi Tuyet Nhung teaches aeronautics and mechanics at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. Her background combines training as an aeronautical engineer at ENSMA, a specialization in solid mechanics at the University of Poitiers, and a doctorate in mechanics of materials in France. Her teaching and research activities focus on aeronautical structures, composite materials, aeroelasticity, fluid mechanics, fatigue and numerical modeling.

Beyond these two individual trajectories, this spotlight is part of a wider drive to structure networks of Vietnamese alumni trained in France. An “ENSMA Alumni in Vietnam” group has been set up, with Ms. Nhung in Hanoi and Ms. Le in Ho Chi Minh City as ambassadors. This initiative opens up interesting prospects for strengthening the Franco-Vietnamese community in the aeronautics and space sectors, in liaison with other French school alumni networks.

For PFIEV, these courses are a particularly telling example of the lasting impact of Franco-Vietnamese cooperation in engineering education. They show how academic mobility, dual training, theses prepared in France and links between establishments can contribute, several years later, to the development of training of excellence in Vietnam.

This promotion comes at a time when the French Embassy in Vietnam’s academic and scientific cooperation team is relaunching and consolidating its alumni initiatives. It highlights the importance of identifying, federating and mobilizing Vietnamese alumni trained in French institutions, in order to strengthen academic, scientific and professional cooperation between France and Vietnam.

The PFIEV is delighted by this recognition and congratulates the two alumni honored, whose careers illustrate the vitality of the scientific and human links between the two countries.

The May 2026 newsletter of the ISAE-ENSMA alumni association features two Vietnamese alumni whose careers illustrate the strength of Franco-Vietnamese academic cooperation in the fields of aeronautics, mechanics and applied research.

The testimonies of Dr. Le Thi Hong Hieu and Mme Le Thi Tuyet Nhung, both trained in France, recall the structuring role played by French engineering schools in the training of high-level Vietnamese scientific executives.
